In 2003, Anna López-Wooden founded The Master's Academy of NW Florida - a K-12 institution built on the conviction that every child deserves a rigorous, caring, personalized education. She has led the school continuously since founding it, serving hundreds of students each year as Founder, CEO, and master teacher across every grade level from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school transitioned from brick-and-mortar to MastersAcademy.Online and remains active today under her leadership.
Inside that same institution, she launched DeColores Language School - a Spanish language subsidiary that offered semester courses and school certificates. It was there that the seeds of Spanish for Professionals were first planted: pastors, missionaries, nurses, law enforcement officers, and college students all sought her out for specialized professional Spanish instruction. DeColores also housed "Yo Hablo Español" - a beloved elementary children's Spanish language program that became one of the most recognized in the community, complete with program T-shirts, library partnerships, and a celebrated summer program for school-age children.
Maestra Anna was also part of the founding faculty team of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Extension program in Quincy, Florida. As the only fully bilingual instructor and the only faculty member holding an M.A., she was essential to the program's launch - translating and verifying curriculum, teaching courses, preparing syllabi, and assessing students. Thirty-three students graduated under the 3-year ministerial AA track she helped build. She also remediated Spanish students at Chipola College who went on to fulfill their foreign language requirement and earn their Bachelor's degrees.
She translated the In-Patient Guidebook at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, FL - certified English-to-Spanish technical and medical document translation that touched real patients in real moments of vulnerability. The local funeral home also sought her expertise to help Spanish-speaking families navigate sensitive legal and funeral arrangements in their own language.
